Manjinder Singh Sirsa: Grand Celebrations of 400th Birth Anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur to Begins From 8th November in Delhi Gurdwaras

              

DSGMC will hold mega celebrations beginning from November 8, 2020, to commemorate  400 th  Prakash Purb ( birth anniversary) of  Ninth Sikh guru Shri Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji in a grand and befitting manner .

DSGMC will organise grand event with zeal and enthusiasm in close association with Delhi /NCR based around 400 Sikh Organizations and Sikh Charitable institutions at the historic Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib where Guru ji attained martyrdom  which is remembered every year as Martyrdom Day.

The celebrations will begin by holding Akhand Path  (48-hour long nonstop recitation of Guru Granth Sahib) on 6 th November at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Bhog of Sri Akhand Path will be solemnized on 8 th November in accordance with Sikh Traditions .

The concluding function on 400th Birth Anniversary will be organised  with complete religious fervor at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj at  New Delhi in April  2021,  where Guru’s mortal remains were consigned to flames in accordance with Sikh Traditions.

He said that 101 members Executive Committee headed by Avtar Singh Hit ,president of Takht Sri Harimandir Patna Sahib Prabandhak Committee, which consists eminent Sikh historians, Sikh celebrities and academicians.

Committee has been constituted to finalise the broad contours for the momentous occasion and chalk out several programmes including seminars, symposiums and lectures to be organised at all  10 historic Gurdwaras in National Capital to throw light on various facets of life and philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur  amongst people, especially the youngsters.

An International seminar on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be organised in New Delhi during Feb 2021 to promote Guru’s teachings of love, peace, equality, brotherhood and eternal values.

DSGMC will   organize Grand  Nagar Kirtan (religious processions ) dedicated to the 400 th year Parkash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji during FEB 2021 by extensively involving Sikh religious, social and charitable institutions. 

The Nagar Kirtan led by 'Panj Pyaras' will start from Guru's birthplace Amritsar and will reach New Delhi covering major Cities and places associated with Guru Tegh Bahadur ji over the course of 15 days and will complete at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib to promote Sikh religion,culture and history. 'Langars' will be organized by the Sikh Organizations at several places along the route of the procession various Gatka teams (Sikh Martial Art) will perform during the Nagar kirtan en route, where a Piper Band and Nagada  will also  be played as part of birth celebrations.

All historic Gurdwaras in the National capital will be illuminated with special lighting and decorated with flower petals during all religious functions during the birth celebrations to pay fitting tribute to one of the greatest spiritual leaders.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa President  DSGMC said that DSGMC will organize Mega show to impart teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji through simple and meaningful actions and deeds that are extremely relevant to the ethos of Universal Brotherhood.

Kirtan Darbar’ will be organised at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium  New  Delhi during March 2021 in which 1100 students of Guru Harkishan Public Schools will simultaneously recite Shabad and  perform  Kirtan with traditional instruments (tanti saz).

A laser show on the life, teaching and philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji will also be held at the event.

Special events like the planting of plant saplings, rendition of Kirtan/Ardas based on ‘Gurbani’, blood donation and medical camps, demonstrations of Sikh Marshall Arts and translations of  Guru's teachings in many International languages for wider dissemination and outreach will be organised at all historic Gurdwaras and education institutions run by  DSGMC.
