DSGMC:Celebration of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's 350th Birthday

New Delhi, October 16: The 350th Prakash Parva of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm by DSGMC .

On this occasion, Gurmat Samagam was held first at Gurdwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Mehrauli in the morning and at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in the evening.

Addressing the gathering, General Secretary of Delhi Gurdwara Committee and President of Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka said that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur had established the Khalsa Raj.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's first name was Laxman Dev given by his parents. Then his name became Madhav Das and then by the mercy of Guru Gobind Singh ,his name became Gurbaksh Singh and then Guru Gobind Singh Sahib embraced him.

Harmeet Singh Kalka said that DSGMC has tried to spread the great history of Sikhs from house to house and printed booklets about Baba Banda Singh Bahadur;so that Sikh children would also be acquainted with its rich history. 

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Jatinderpal Singh, Head of DSGMC's Dharma Prachar, Satnam Singh Marwah, Deputy Chairman, Omkar Singh Raja, Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, Vikram Singh Rohini, among others.

National Capacity Building Workshop on Preservation of Sikh Heritage in Pakistan

Amid this Coronavirus Pandemic Outbreak, a two-day National Workshop was held in Lahore,Pakistan which discussed various aspects to preserve the Sikh Cultural heritage.

This National Capacity Building Workshop for the PTEGP-UNESCO-WB, a funded project was implemented by The Institute for Art and Culture (IAC) under the main project ‘Development of an Integrated Site Management Plan and Capacity Building for Sustainable Tourism Management of Selected Sikh Sites in Punjab’.

The workshop is part of the collaboration between the IAC and Unesco which focuses on creating an Integrated Site Management Plan for Sustainable Tourism Management of Gurdwara Rohri Sahib, Eminabad, Gujranwala, and Gurdwara Sacha Sauda Sahib, Farooqabad, Shiekhupura.

It proposes to provide foundations in cultural heritage protection and management through local development and the community exercise of bringing together expertise to identify gaps in protection and preservation of Sikh heritage sites.

The project was jointly awarded to the IAC, Lahore, Pakistan and Fondazione Satagta for the Economics of Culture, Turin, Italy.

Ensure CCTV Cameras In Every Gurdwara, Giani Harpreet Singh Asks Management Committees

In a press release, Giani Harpreet Singh has maintained that the anti-social elements were organizing these sacrilege incidents with an intention to spread disharmony in the state. 

“The management committees must ensure installation and working of CCTV cameras within Gurdwara premises round the clock,” he added.

Giani Harpreet Singh has also directed the management committees to ensure proper vigilance in the Gurdwara premises while asking them to deploy at least 2-4 Singhs inside Gurdwara Sahibs for keeping vigil at night.

It is noteworthy here that two sacrilege incidents have come to fore in Punjab during the past few days.

As per experts, these incidents are focused to spread disharmony in Punjab amid ongoing farmers’ struggle against the draconian laws imposed by BJP led Indian government.

Justice (Retd.) R. S. Sodhi Condemned The Atrocities Committed By Kolkata Police Against Former Soldier Balwinder Singh.

New Delhi, Oct 15: Justice (retd) RS Sodhi has strongly condemned the atrocities committed by Kolkata police against former soldier Balwinder Singh and demanded his immediate release.

Justice Sodhi said “It was "surprising" that the law was being misused.Law should be implemented without any discrimination. Balwinder Singh is a former soldier who has spent 20 years in the service of the country and the treatment meted out to him by the Kolkata Police is highly reprehensible. Therefore, Balwinder Singh should be released immediately and action should be taken under Section 295A against the police personnel who disrespected his turban and cases.”

Justice Sodhi also praised services being rendered by President of DSGMC  Mr.Manjinde Singh Sirsa Sirsa for the Sikh community and efforts for the release of Balwinder Singh.

DSGMC Seeks Details of Action Taken By Central Government on Justice Dhingra's Report On 1984 Sikh Genocide

नई दिल्ली, 15 अक्टूबरः दिल्ली सिख गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी ने केन्द्र सरकार से 1984 के सिख कत्लेआम के 186 केसों की जांच करने वाली जस्टिस एस.एन.ढींगरा की अगुवाई वाली विशेष जांच टीम एस.आइ.टी द्वारा की गई सिफारिशों के अनुसार की गई कार्रवाई की रिपोर्ट मांगी है।

कमेटी के माइनॉरिटी सेल के चेयरमैन जसविंदर सिंह जौली ने ग्रह मंत्रालय के पी.आई.ओ को डाली आर.टी.आई के माध्यम से जानकारी मांगी है।

उल्लेखनीय है कि केन्द्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट को बताया था कि उसने जस्टिस एस.एन.ढींगरा की सिफारिशें स्वीकार कर ली हैं और सिफारिशों के अनुसार 1984 के सिख कत्लेआम के दोषियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

स. जौली ने अपनी अर्जी में यह भी पूछा है कि दोषी अफसरों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई के लिए कौन-कौन से पुलिस अफसरों की डयूटी लगाई गई है और इस रिपोर्ट पर कार्रवाई की मौजूदा स्थिति क्या है?

Sudeep Singh :"आजादी के 73 साल बाद भी सिक्खों के साथ सौतेला व्यवहार जारी"

देश को आजाद हुए आज 73 वर्ष हो चुके हैं। कहने को तो देश को अंग्रेजों से 1947 में मुक्ति मिल गई थी और देश आजाद हो गया था। पर शायद आज़ादी की लड़ाई में सबसे अधिक योगदान देने वाली कौम आज भी आज़ाद नहीं है। आजादी में सबसे ज्यादा नुकसान पंजाबियों खास तौर पर सिक्खों का हुआ था। अंग्रेजों ने सिक्खों के नेताओं से पूछा था कि क्या वह भी मुस्लिम समुदाय की तरह अलग देश चाहते हैं लेकिन उस समय सिक्ख नेताओं ने भारत के साथ रहने की अपनी प्रतिबधता दोहराई थी। इस आजादी के दौरान अरबों रूपये के धन माल की जायदाद को छोड़ कर पंजाबियों को भारत आना पड़ा। लाखों लोगों को अपनी जान से हाथ धोना पड़ा। हजारों की गिनती में परिवार के लोग आपस में बिछड़ गये। इस बंटवारे की कसक अभी भी लोगों के दिलों में देखी जा सकती है। 

आजादी के बाद जब सिखों के नेताओं ने पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू से पंजाबियों के हकों के लिए मुलाकात की तो उनके तेवर बदले हुए थे और उनका जवाब था कि उस समय वक्त और था अब वक्त और है। सिक्खों को उनकी देशभक्ति का इनाम देने के बजाये उस समय के गृहमंत्री ने सिक्खों के विरूद्ध यह ब्यान जारी किया कि सिक्ख एक जराम पेशा (अपराधी प्रवृत्ति) की कौम है। सिक्खों ने गृहमंत्री के उस ब्यान का सख्त विरोध किया और उसकी भरपूर निंदा की। तब से लेकर आज तक सिक्खों के साथ देश में कहीं ना कहीं सौतेले व्यवहार की खबरें आती रहती हैं। कहने को तो देश के संविधान में सभी धर्मों के लोगों को बराबर के अधिकार दिये गये हैं। लेकिन कहीं ना कहीं आज भी सिक्खों के मूल अधिकारों का हनन लगातार जारी है। 

केन्द्र में किसी भी पार्टी की सरकार रही हो उसके द्वारा सबसे पहले सिक्खों के अधिकारों को कुचलने की नीतियाँ बनाई जाती हैं। इतिहास इस बात का गवाह है कि सिक्ख समुदाय के लोगों को अपने हकों के लिए लगातार आंदोलन करने पड़ते रहे हैं। जब भाषा के आधार पर प्रदेश बनने की बात आई तो भी पंजाब के लोगों को इसके लिए आंदोलन करना पड़ा। आखिर में केन्द्र सिक्खों की माँगों के आगे तो झुक गया लेकिन उसने पंजाब के कई टुकड़े कर दिये और हिमाचल तथा हरियाणा प्रदेश बनाकर भाषा के आधार पर एक लंगड़ा प्रदेश पंजाब के लोगों को दे दिया। 

आज 21वीं सदी में सिक्खों के साथ दूसरे दर्जे का व्यवहार लगातार जारी है। देश के किसी ना किसी हिस्से में कभी सिक्खों की दस्तार के साथ बदसलूकी की जाती है तो कभी भाषा के आधार पर उनको पीछे धकेला जाता है। सिक्खों द्वारा लगातार अन्याय के खिलाफ अपनी आवाज बुलंद की जाती रही है। इसकी ताजा मिसाल ये है कि केन्द्र सरकार ने जम्मू-कश्मीर में से पंजाबी भाषा को सरकारी दर्जे से बाहर कर दिया। जबकि प्रदेश में पंजाबी बोलने व पढने वाले लोग हजारों की संख्या में रहते हैं। इसी तरह से हिमाचल प्रदेश में पंजाबियों द्वारा लगातार पंजाबी भाषा को प्रदेश में दूसरे दर्जे के लिए आवाज उठाई जाती रही है। लेकिन केन्द्र सरकार के कानों पर जूं तक नहीं सरक रही। 

चीन के साथ युद्ध हो या पाकिस्तान के साथ युद्ध हो सिख अपनी बहादुरी के जज्बे से पीछे नहीं हटे। हँसते हुए अपनी जान देश के ऊपर वार दी। गिलगिट घाटी में जिस तरह से चीनी फौजियों द्वारा रात के अंधेरे में  भारतीय फौज पर हमला किया गया तो उस समय भी निहत्थे सिक्ख फौजी नौजवानों ने अपनी जान की परवाह ना करते हुए दुश्मन को धूल  चटा दी  और देश के लिए अपनी जान कुर्बान कर दी। लेकिन जब पंजाबियों खास तौर पर सिक्खों को कुछ देने की बात आती है तो सरकारें अपनी आँखें बंद कर लेती है। 

रही सही कसर केन्द्र सरकार ने कृषि बिल को संसद में पास करके पंजाब के किसानों को जीते जी मरने की कगार पर ला दिया। कृषि बिल के विरूद्ध आज पूरे पंजाब में लगातार धरने-प्रर्दशन जारी हैं। केन्द्र की मोदी सरकार को आम लोगों की सरकार ना मानकर बड़े-बड़े औद्योगिक घरानों की सरकार कहा जाने लगा है। 

पश्चिम बंगाल पुलिस द्वारा जिस तरह से एक सिख की दस्तार उतारी गई और उसके केसों की बेअदबी की गई इस घटना ने संसार भर के सिखों के हृदयों को ठेस पहुंचाई। दिल्ली सिख गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी अध्यक्ष मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा द्वारा वहां के राज्यपाल जगदीप धनखड़ को ज्ञापन सौंप बलविन्दर सिंह को इन्साफ दिलाने की गुहार लगाई। वहीं इस घटना को अब राजसी रंगत दे दी गई है। भाजपा बलविन्दर सिंह के बलबूते पर ममता को घेरना चाहती है इसी के चलते भाजपा समर्थित सिख देशभर में प्रदर्शन कर ममता सरकार को जी भर कर कोस रहे हैं। सिख बुद्धिजीवियों की मानें तो ममता सरकार को इस घटना के लिए माफी मांगनी चाहिए और दोषी अफसरों पर कार्रवाई करनी चाहिए पर साथ ही भाजपा के चहेते सिखों को भी चाहिए कि सिख की दस्तार जब उनके आकाओं की रहनुमाई में उतरती है तब भी इसी तरह डटकर सामने आयें और उनके खिलाफ भी इसी तरह से मुहिम चलायें। आज हर कोई सिक्ख यह सोचने पर मजबूर हो गया है कि देश की आजादी के बाद भी उसके साथ लगातार सौतेला व्यवहार जारी है।

Ravinder Kaur: Malaysian Wildlife Researcher Bags Marsh Award For Hornbill Research, Conservation Projects

Meet Ravinder Kaur, the wildlife researcher who has been dedicating her life to protecting hornbills in Malaysia since 2006.

Recently the researcher bagged the Terrestrial Conservation Leadership Award from the Marsh Christian Trust for her significant contribution to sustainable biodiversity at a local level.

In partnership with Fauna and Flora International, the award celebrates those who have been playing an important role in their communities, highlighting local leaders or organisations making a particularly special contribution to conservation.

According to Ravinder Kaur, the award means so much for her team and her as grants are harder to come by as donors are struggling to keep themselves afloat amid the Covid-19 crisis.

“I believe the pandemic is a wake-up call where we need to do more for nature and wildlife as human beings would be affected by continuous forest destruction and species extinction,”.

“And during those field trips, whenever I saw a hornbill nest, I would be intrigued by it because it was not easy to spot a hornbill's nest as the birds are secretive of their nesting sites.”

She also recalled an unforgettable memory where she had volunteered to spend six months observing the critically endangered Helmeted hornbill nests for a study and was thrilled by the rare bird species.

And that ultimately made her pursue her masters degree in the field of birds in Universiti Malaysia Sabah where she spent weeks in the jungle to observe the hornbill species.

Upon finishing her masters, an opportunity came knocking at her door when she received a call from a sun-bear scientist based in Sabah.

Ravinder and her teammates, Helson Hassan and Amidi Majinun who are Kinabatangan locals were tasked to collect seeds regurgitated by hornbills under nest trees to be grown in HUTAN/KOCP nursery.

However, the current alarming Covid-19 situation in Sabah has put a halt to Ravinder’s hornbill conservation projects.

“We now have reduced activities due to lower finances and lower risk of exposure. And the pandemic has also made us think more creatively on how to raise funds."

“ My husband, Sanjitpaal Singh has been developing artwork based on his photography excursions to help raise funds for conservation projects in Malaysia.”

Ravinder Kaur also said that the number of hornbills have been decreasing throughout the years due to poaching and habitat loss.

पूर्व सैनिक बलविंदर सिंह का परिवार मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा व अन्यों को साथ लेकर पश्चिम बंगाल के राज्यपाल को मिला

नई दिल्ली, 14 अक्टूबरः पश्चिम बंगाल पुलिस द्वारा हिरासत में लिए गए पूर्व फौजी बलविंदर सिंह के परिवार द्वारा आज दिल्ली सिख गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी के अध्यक्ष स. मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा व अन्य पदाधिकारियों को साथ लेकर पश्चिम बंगाल के राज्यपाल से मुलाकात की गई और बलविंदर सिंह को तुरंत रिहा करने व  परिवार को इन्साफ देने की मांग की गई। इस प्रतिनिधिमंडल में बलविंदर सिंह की पत्नी करमजीत कौर व पुत्र हरसवीर सिंह भी शामिल थे।

मीटिंग के पश्चात श्रीमती करमजीत कौर, स. सिरसा व अन्यों ने मीडिया को बताया कि उनहोंने राज्यपाल श्री जगरूप धनखड़ से मुलाकात की है और उन्हें अपील की है कि बलविंदर सिंह से हुई बेइन्साफी दूर की जाए और उन्हें तुरंत रिहा किया जाये व उनकी दस्तार और केसों की बेअदबी करने के दोषी कोलकाता पुलिस मुलाज़िमों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाए।

इस मौके पर स. सिरसा ने कहा कि जिस फौजी बलविंदर सिंह ने देश के लिए कारगिल की लड़ाई लड़ी और जीत प्राप्त की व साथ ही कई मोर्चों पर देश की रक्षा की आज उसी के साथ यह बदसलूक किया जा रहा है। उनहोंने कहा कि शिरोमणि अकाली दल के अध्यक्ष स. सुखबीर सिंह बादल की हिदायतों के अनुसार आज शिरोमणि अकाली दल व दिल्ली गुरुद्वारा कमेटी का प्रतिनिधि मंडल बलविंदर सिंह परिवार के साथ यहां पहुंचा है जिसका केवल एक ही मकसद है कि बलविंदर सिंह व उसके परिवार के लिए इन्साफ लेना है। उन्होंने कहा कि हैरानी वाली बात यह है कि फौज की सिफारिश पर बलविंदर ंिसह के हथियार का लाइसेंस बना और ऑल इंडिया लाइसेंस है मगर उसके खिलाफ कत्ल का इरादा समेत 15 धाराओं के तहत केस दर्ज किया गया है।

स. सिरसा ने कहा कि पंजाब की तरह ही पश्चिम बंगाल भी शूरवीरों की धरती है जहां सुभाष चंद्र बोस, रंबिन्द्रनाथ टैगोर जैसी शख्सीयतों ने जन्म लिया। उन्होंने कहा कि हमें आशा है कि मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी इस मामले में पूरी दुनिया के सिखों व अन्य इन्साफ पसंद लोगों की आवाज़ सुनेंगी व बलविंदर सिंह को रिहा कर दोषी कोलकाता पुलिस अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करेंगी।

इस दौरान राज्यपाल ने टवीट किया और बलविंदर सिंह की पत्नी को भरोसा दिलाया कि आप यहां से निराश हो कर मत जाइये, उन्होंने ग्रह विभाग व पुलिस को कहा है कि बलविंदर सिंह के मामले में उसकी वीडियो देखने के बाद स्पष्ट है कि उसके साथ भेदभाव हो रहा है। राज्यपाल ने कहा कि उन्हें खुशी है कि जथेदार अकाल तख्त साहिब ने भी सभी सिखों को हिदायत दी है कि सभी सिख राजनीति से ऊपर उठ कर बलविंदर सिंह की रिहाई के लिए कार्य करें। राज्यपाल ने कहा कि यही हिदायत राज्य सरकार को भी दी है कि कोई राजनीति ना हो और पूर्व सैनिक को रिहा किया जाए।

राज्यपाल ने यह भी कहा कि वह हाथ जोड़ कर बिनती करते हैं कि कोई भी सिख समाज का व्यक्ति इसे राजनीति से ना जोड़े। सिख समाज कभी भी चमचा गिरी में विश्वास नहीं करता। उन्हें अफसोस है कि लोग इसमें पड़ रहे हैं। राज्यपाल ने कहा कि वह एक बार फिर मुख्यमंत्री को अपील करेंगे कि बलविंदर सिंह को इन्साफ दिया जाये।

इस दौरान श्रीमति करमजीत सिंह कौर ने श्री अकाल तख्त साहिब के जथेदार ज्ञानी हरप्रीत सिंह का धन्यवाद किया जिन्होंने बलविंदर सिंह मामले पर सिख समाज को दिशा निर्देश दिए और उनके साथ हुए इस दुर्व्यवहार के बारे में पूरी दुनिया को बतायाI

Pakistan Halves Sikh pilgrims’ Visit on Guru Nanak Dev Gurpurab in Nankana Sahib Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Pakistan government has decided to halve the duration of the Indian Sikh jatha’s visit to Gurdwara Nankana Sahib on the occasion of the 551st birth anniversary of the Sikhs’ first master Guru Nanak Dev on November 30, as well as restrict the devotees’ movement within the gurdwara.

Aamer Ahmad, chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) -- the parent body of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) -- said due to the Covid-19 protocols, the Pakistan government had decided to give a 5-day visas to Indian Sikhs to fulfil their religious aspirations by celebrating the Guru’s birth anniversary .

Normally, Pakistan issues 10-day visas to Indian Sikh jathas on various religious occasions.

ETPB spokesperson Aamir Hashmi said the ETPB and PSGPC would receive the jatha at Wagah (Pakistan) border on November 27.

DSGMC:Mata Sundari Yatri Niwas Will Be Built in Delhi

नई दिल्ली, 12 अक्टूबरः दिल्ली सिख गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी द्वारा माता सुंदरी जी के नाम पर पहला यात्री निवास गुरुद्वारा माता सुंदरी जी के नाम पर बनाया जा रहा है जिसे जल्दी ही संगतों के लिए खोल दिया जाएगा।

दिल्ली सिख गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी महासचिव हरमीत सिंह कालका के सलाहकार सुखविंदर सिंह बब्बर ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि कमेटी द्वारा माता सुंदरी गुरुद्वारा साहिब में माता जी के नाम पर यात्री निवास बनाया जा रहा है जो कि दिल्ली में पहला यात्री निवास होगा जिसका नाम माता सुंदरी जी के नाम पर होगा। स. बब्बर गुरुद्वारा माता सुंदरी जी के चेयरमैन भी हैं।

स. बब्बर ने बताया कि इस यात्री निवास में 3 कमरे और 2 बड़े हॉल होंगे जो कि पूरी तरह वातानुकूलित होंगे। इनमें 25 के करीब संगतें रूक सकती हैं।
स. बब्बर ने बताया कि इस का सब से अधिक लाभ पंत अस्पताल गुरु नानक आई सैंटर और ईरवन अस्पताल में दिल्ली में बाहर से आने वाले मरीजों के परिवार वालों को मिलेगा क्योंकि अस्पताल के नज़दीक कोई भी रिहाइश न होने के कारण उन्हें महंगे होटलों में रहना पड़ता है और जो जरूरतमंद लोग होते हैं उन्हें सड़कों पर रहने को मजबूर होना पड़ता है पर अब वह यहां रूक सकेंगे और उन्हें रिहाइश के साथ-साथ लंगर भी मिलेगा व साथ ही गुरु साहिब की बख्शिश भी मिलेगी।

स. बब्बर ने बताया कि दिल्ली गुरुद्वारा कमेटी महासचिव हरमीत सिंह कालका ने पहुंच कर यात्री निवास का जायज़ा लिया और जल्दी से जल्दी इस का कार्य पूरा करके संगतों के लिए खोलने का भरोसा दिया।
