NEW DELHI, India—A Delhi based Sikh man Jitender Singh Shunty, who has been performing the sewa of cremating dead bodies of Covid-19 victims, has contracted coronavirus. He, his wife, and son have been found coronavirus positive today.
Sharing the information over social
media, Jitendra Singh Shunty has said that his organization ‘Shaheed Bhagat
Singh Sewa Dal’ will continue the volunteer service of cremating the dead
bodies of Covid-19 victims. “Although we have been quarantined but our team
members are committed to carrying out this service even if I succumb,” he
said.
It is pertinent to note here
that Delhi, the national capital of India, is facing a regular spurt in
Covid-19 cases with a death rate of 3.14%.
In this tough
time, the relatives of Covid-19 victims are backstepping from cremating their
loved ones, but volunteers like Jitender Singh Shunty have set an example of
serving humanity.
