Have you ever thought about it?

Why do we throw money in front of our most respected GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI?

I think our GURUS must not be liking it at all, because it is totally against the teachings of our GURUS. If we have to give some donations, then it can be silently given to the cashier.

To be frank we are bowing in front of that giant GOLAK and not to our GURUS.

Message received from Mrs. Nirmal Kaur :

These are the offerings of the devotee sikhs to the Guru. Some do it by pouring money in the golak, some do it by putting langar stalls on various occassions, some do it by gifting chandoa saab.

There are many reasons for which Sikhs offer/deposits their offerings money in the congregation in Golak ( Donation -Box, usually placed/lied in front of our most respected Guru Granth Sahib) :

Sometimes as a symbolic offerings either in thanks giving form or to win divine favours.( Guru Granth Sahib/Gurmat maryada does not sanction reverence for such symbolic offerings!)

One tenth of the income is offered by the Sikhs for common cause .To quote Guru Nanak Dev ji,"He who gives from his hard earned money is one who recognized the true Path".

Guru Hargobind said, "Gharib Da Muh - Guru Ki Golak".
Although a systematic & formal Financial Management System already existed in every Gurdwara, managed by the Gurdwara management team who manages the account, expenditures, donations & gifts etc. .....No doubt, huge amount of money has been utilizing for scholarships, incentives and other necessary support to the Sikh community/ for the needy & poor to improve their education, status and make them fit for employment in national and international levels. Still many incidents proved frequently misuse of the Guru's Golak money and Gurdwara properties. We want Sikh educated youth to come forward, contribute with thier valuable suggestions to form an accountable Trust.
Today most Sikh devotees are superstitious, priests encourage that for their own personal gains. Even in our main shrines, priests and devotees interpret Sikhism more on sayings, stories, kabits, kathas and Sakhis rather than Gurbani(which is authentic).

We should also make joint appeal to our respective Sikh religious organizations to place Golak aside the Guru Granth Sahib to give whole respect to the Guru we are following(well suggested by Dr.Gurjit,Grandson of Late Prof.Sahib Singhji).

We are Sikhs & we must follow sayings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib only!

So with right vision in right direction & with the blessings of Supreme Almighty, everything is possible! Here, I am very much inspired with very inspirational statement given by Mr.B.S.Vohraji..... Though it will take some time, but we are sure that we are moving in the right direction!!!
