Sikh Teen Student Beaten Up in US, Hate Crime?

In the video, it was cleared that a boy was following the victim and suddenly punched him several times where the boy tried to protect his head. The assault video was recorded and shared on Snapchat, and it went viral.\

On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that she had spoken to an Indian student assaulted in Milan and was told that it was not a racial attack but robbery.

According to reports from Indian express, the 14-year-old- boy’s father said that I am feeling so bad that such an incident happened with my son.

The victim’s father had alleged that his son was targeted because of his Indian and Sikh heritage.

“There were two students who were attacked on two different days”, he said.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on Indian community members, which are believed to be apparent hate crimes. I have asked the Indian Embassy in the U.S. send me a report on the incident.

Sikh teen thrashed in Washington, kin claims hate crime

Washington: A 14-year-old Sikh boy was punched and knocked down by his classmate in the Washington State with his father claiming that his son was targeted because he is of Indian descent, media reports have said.

The boy wearing a traditional Sikh turban was beaten less than a block outside of the city’s Kentridge High School, reports PTI.

The assault happened last week and has since drawn outrage from the boy’s family, The New Tribune reported.

The boy was attacked by the classmate as someone recorded it and posted it on Snapchat.

In the clip, the classmate follows behind the victim and suddenly punches him, knocking him to the ground. The victim is punched several more times as he tries to protect his head and crawl away, the report said.

However, the school district says it was not rooted in hate, but spawned hate speech online.

The victim’s father, who declined to be identified, told KIRO-TV he fears his son was targeted because he is of Indian descent and is a Sikh.

Once known for its gurdwaras, Pindi losing its heritage to fanatic mindset, land mafia

The rich heritage of the Raj days which Rawalpindi city is a custodian of is fast losing to fanatic mindset and land mafia and the few gurdwaras and temples the city claims today, too, continue to face a threat from the private as well as the public enterprises. Gurdwara Singh Sabha is the latest example.

Located in Raja Bazaar, the gurdwara was once a center of Akali Sikhs. Later after the establishment of Pakistan, the government set up a school inside the premises. Recently, the head of the school demolished a portion of the gurdwara and constructed a mosque in its premises which is not permissible as the place is a property of The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Rawalpindi Region. Under the law, tenants cannot make any changes to the building.

Talking to Pakistan Observer an official of the ETPB said the board has sought the assistance of the Rawalpindi City Government and the DC office to launch an inquiry against the principal of the school. In order to protect the religious site, it has been conveyed to all the schools, offices and public departments working inside the ETPB buildings that they are not authorized to make any change in the construction scheme the building, he said. Gurdwara Sahib once used to be a spacious double-story building with rooms for pilgrims, a Langar hall, and Prakash Asthan. However, ETPB’s typical indifference and apathy have taken its toll and the building is losing its luster fast. One can see the worn out walls and arches, dry pond and rusty windows of the building. Sadly the remaining part of the building too is being converted and demolished under the name of religion.

Fliers attack Sikh mayoral candidate, portraying him as a terrorist

“Last night, a flyer with the word “terrorist” above a picture of me appeared on car windshields in Hoboken. Of course, this is troubling, but I want to be clear: We won't let hate win in Hoboken. I want people to know that Hoboken is a welcoming community where my wife and I are proud to raise our two young children. No matter your religion, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, you are welcome here in our City. As Mayor, I will work hard to make sure we keep it that way.
