DSGMC: Bypoll for Delhi’s Sikh-dominated Rajouri Garden seat on April 9

The by election to the Sikh-dominated Rajouri Garden assembly segment in Delhi will take place on April 9. The seat fell vacant after the Aam Aadmi Party’s Jarnail Singh resigned in January 2017 to contest the Punjab assembly elections opposite Shiromani Akali Dal supremo and then chief minister Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi.

The BJP-Akali combine has fielded Manjinder Singh Sirsa in the bypoll. He is also vying for re-election to the post of general secretary of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). Sirsa was the coalition’s choice from Rajouri Garden in the Delhi elections in December 2013 as well. Elected to the assembly in those polls, he lost the seat in January 2014 elections, despite polling 45,000 votes as compared to 41,000 in the previous elections.

Tata Tigor Style back - The New World of Style from Tata Motors

After the great Tata Hexa Experience, we again got an invite from the Tata Motors to try our hands on its new sedan – TIGOR, which is to be launched on 29^th March. 

The first look of TIGOR was quite impressive. Though its front and sides looked somewhat similar to TIAGO, its rear side looked much better than all of its competitors in this segment. A beautiful car indeed.

The headlight is a smoked type with a black treatment given to it which makes it more impressive. The side profile of the new sedan is again similar to the Tiago but it looks more beautiful than any other car of this segment. 

The slope on its back makes it a top notch sedan and quite beautiful in looks with LED stop lamps and the LED tail lamps. The petrol version has the 15 inch Alloy wheels while the Diesel version has the 14 inch alloy wheels.

Interiors again are very impressive. It has the Automatic climate control system. The infotainment system has been designed by Harman, with a five inch touch screen, eight speakers, and with the best of the sound quality in this segment. 

The steering wheel is quite sporty and adjustable, and has the telephony as well the audio controls on it. Seating system of the TIGOR also looked quite comfortable.

It has a boot space of 419 litres. Multi bar links make it easier to remove and keep the baggage while traveling. It has the 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engines with 84 bhp and the 1.05 litre Revotorq Diesel engine with 69 BHP.

We had to start from the Aerocity in Delhi, towards the Heritage Transport museum in Sohna & back but via NH 8, while returning. We were offered both the petrol as well as the Diesel versions. 

Kartik from Chennai was with me and he opted the Petrol version. The journey started and we passed from all kinds of roads that included busy ones, hilly as well the rural. The sedan performed perfectly and Kartik looked quite happy on driving it for the one side journey while I was busy in clicking the pics & videos.

While coming back I was in the driving seat and the beautiful machine that I had was a Diesel version. It was my first feel of TIGOR on the driving seat and truly it was quite impressive. The sedan was quite smooth in driving and truly very comfortable.

DSGMC CELEBRATES DELHI FATEH DIWAS AT RED FORT

INDIA’S FIRST BATTLE OF INDEPENDENCE WAS FOUGHT IN 1783 BY SIKH LEADERS : MANJINDER SINGH SIRSA

Newdelhi, March 26 : The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) started celebration of Delhi Fateh Diwas at Red Fort here last evening with as huge gathering of people from all walks of life participated in the event. Programme begin with recitation of Gurbani Kirtan by Gurbani Virsa Sambhal Istri Satsang Sabha was followed by path of Rehras Sahib and later different Jathas performed kirtan and path.

          Occasion was graced by Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh ji besides other saints and high priests  and Manjit Singh GK President and other  office bearers of DSGMC.

          This is 234^th anniversary celebration to commemorate the  victory of the sikh forces led by  Sikh marshals Baba Baghel Singh, Jathedar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia (fourth head Budha Dal), Jathedar  Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, Jathedar Tara Singh Gheba and Jathedar Mahan Singh Shukarchakia over the Mughal empire.

          Addressing the impressive gathering Mr.Manjinder Singh Sirsa General Secretary of the DSGMC said that this event was laid in the history for over 230 years and was never celebrated anywhere. It was only at the initiative of DSGMC that celebration of the event begin four years ago and now it is being celebrated regularly. Briefing historical facts Mr. Sirsa said that 1947 was not the first battle of Independence for the country, it was in year 1783 when the first battle of independence was fought under the leadership of sikh marshals who uprooted the  Mughal empire. He said that Kesari Flag of Khalsa was hosted for first time on the Red Fort in that year. He also told the people that the takht of the Mughal emperor Aurgnzeb was taken to Sri Harmandir Sahib at Amritsar and Bugga Ramgharia stood as a symbol of victory of sikh forces at Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar.

          Mr. Sirsa further told that these sikh leaders after defeating the Mughals identified the land where Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ninth Guru of Sikhs was martyred and  Gurdwara Sis Ganj and other historical Gurdwara Sahibs were built in Delhi by them. He said that sikh living all over the world will always remember these leaders who did a spectacular job for the community and the country.  

           He said that main motive to organize this mega show is make our youth aware about different phases of evolvement of sikh religion, culture and history. 

  Mr. Sirsa said that this is a proud moment Sikhs settled worldwide as conquering Delhi has a great historical significance and sikh, a newly born religion has great leaders who led from the front to conquer the national capital at a crucial time.

Newdelhi, March 24 :  The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Mangament Committee (DSGMC) will celebrate two day ' Delhi Fateh Diwas' on March 25 and 26, 2017 at  Red fort here to celebrate 234^th anniversary of Delhi victory under the leadership of Sikh marshals Baba Baghel Singh, Jathedar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia (fourth head Budha Dal), Jathedar  Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, Jathedar Tara Singh Gheba and Jathedar Mahan Singh Shukarchakia during which a number of events will be organized to inspire the new generation and make them aware of the rich sikh traditions, culture and history.

                Disclosing this in a statement released here today, the DSGMC General Secretary and former MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that this is fourth time continuously when the event will be celebrated in a big way. He said that main motive to organize this mega show is make our youth aware about different phases of evolvement of sikh religion, culture and history.  He called upon the parents to bring their children and young ones in large number to the event so that they could take benefit from it and have a first hand information about the sikh way of life.

                Mr. Sirsa disclosed that on day March 25, 2017 event will began at 6 pm in the evening with recitation of Gurbani Kirtan by Gurbani Virsa Sambhal Istri Satsang Sabha, followed by path of Rehras Sahib, then  different Jathas will perform kirtan and path.

                He further disclosed that on the second day a Jarnaili Fateh March will be carried out from Chattha veer pul to Red fort ground which will began around 2 pm in the noon. Same day a historic event will be organized in the evening where Dhadi Jathas will perform, a gatka programme will be organized apart from that former Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Dr. Jaspal Singh will deliver a lecture besides others speakers.

                Mr. Sirsa said that this is a proud moment Sikhs settled worldwide as conquering Delhi has a great historical significance and sikh, a newly born religion has great leaders who led from the front to conquer the national capital at a crucial time. He appealed to all the people of Delhi particularly the  sikh youth to participate in this event and derive maximum benefit to have knowledge about rich traditions and history of  Sikhs.

Members of the DSGMC had reached the spot, FIR lodged and Investigation is undergoing. Unconfirmed reports say that few Nepali drunk guys have done this. Police is doing its job and the culprits are likely to be arrested at the earliest.

'Maharaja Ranjit Singh': An inspirational tale of a 'true' Sikh leader

"Sher-E-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh", an upcoming TV show that will bring into limelight the inspirational journey of Sikh leader Maharaja Ranjit Singh -- founder of the Sikh empire -- was launched here on Thursday.

Showcasing a gigantic set, especially designed by award-winning filmmaker Omung Kumar, royal costumes by Manoshi Nath and Rushi Sharma and flawless stunts executed under the guidance of popular Bollywood stunt director Allan Amin, the historical drama show, will be aired on Life OK starting from March 20.

The show will feature Punjab-based 14-year-old actor Damanpreet Singh in the title role, while actors Shaleen Bhanot and Sneha Wagh will be seen as his parents Mahaa Singh and Raj Kaur.

"He always looked up to everyone equally and ruled fairly. The beauty about his time was that he kept all enemies away and created 'akhand' (United) Punjab," Abhimanyu Singh, CEO, Contiloe Pictures, said at the launch.

"No capital punishment was given when he was the leader. Everyone was given a second chance. There was tremendous law and order. That's why we thought of making a show like this," he added.

Keeping in mind the sentiments of the Sikh community, Abhimanyu shared that they have done a lot of research for the show.

"We have followed Kushwant Singh's books. We have also followed instructions of Dr. J.S. Grewal and Gurbaksh Singh, who are prominent historians," Abhimanyu told IANS.

The launch of the show, which has been shot across locations in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, witnessed a power-packed performance by a Punjabi group on a mesmerising stag, especially designed keeping in mind the show's grandeur.

Damanpreet, who was chosen for the lead role from over 150 candidates, said playing the leader on screen is an honour for him.

"I have read about Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji in school. I am in ninth class right now. It's an honour for me to portray him on national television. My grandparents and my parents are on cloud nine these days," Damanpreet told IANS.

Shaleen, who was last seen as Duryodhana in "Suryaputra Karn", is returning to the small screen to play a positive character.

"At first I was a bit hesitant about doing "Maharaja Ranjit Singh" as I played a negative character and was on a vacation. Also playing a father sounded unusual to me, but when I heard about my character, then I thought I should not let this opportunity go away," Shaleen said.

Besides them, the show will also feature actors Rumi Khan and Sonia Singh.

सिखों ने आप और कांग्रेस को नकार दिया-सुखबीर बादल

चंडीगढ़, १ मार्च,

शिरोमणि अकाली दल के अध्यक्ष सुखबीर बादल ने कहा है कि दिल्ली सिक्ख गुरूद्वारा मैनेजमेंट कमेटी के चुनावों में हुई दल की शानदार जीत सिखों के मन में आम आदमी पार्टी और कांग्रेस दोनों के प्रति गुस्से का परिणाम है। सिखों ने आप और कांग्रेस को पूरी तरह से नकार दिया है।

बुधवार को यहां जारी एक बयान में बादल ने कहा कि इन चुनावों ने साबित कर दिया है कि दिल्ली की संगत शिरोमणि अकाली दल के साथ है। लोगों ने राष्ट्रीय राजधानी और पंजाब में शिरोमणि अकाली दल की कार्यशैली को मुहर लगाई है। 

कमेटी चुनावों में जीत दर्ज करने वाले अकाली प्रत्याशियों को बधाई देते हुए बादल ने कहा कि यह जीत प्रत्याशियों की मेहनत और ईमानदारी का परिणाम भी है। अकाली नेता और कार्यकर्ताओं ने विरोधियों के दुष्प्रचार के बावजूद अपना हौंसला नहीं छोड़ा और संगत की निस्वार्थ में जुटे रहे। डीएसजीएमसी अध्यक्ष मनजीत सिंह जीके की प्रशंसा करते हुए बादल ने कहा कि सिख संगत को जीके को उनकी मेहनत और ईमानदारी के लिए पुरस्कृत किया है। 

बादल ने कहा कि आम आदमी पार्टी ने अकाली दल को बदनाम करने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी। यहां तक कि आप नेताओं ने पंथक सेवा दल तक की स्थापना कर चुनाव मैदान में अपने उम्मीदवार तक उतार दिए। इन नेताओं ने शिरोमणि अकाली दल पर बेबुनियाद आरोप लगाए। मगर दिल्ली के सिखों ने अकाली दल के समर्थन में फतवा देकर कर साबित कर दिया है कि सिख आम आदमी पार्टी से प्रभावित नहीं हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि यह चुनाव आने वाले चुनाव परिणामों का आईना हैं। आम आदमी पार्टी को भविष्य में भी ऐसी परिस्थितियों का सामना करना पड़ेगा। 

कांग्रेस पर बरसते बादल ने कहा कि दिल्ली चुनावों में विरोधी पक्ष के उम्मीदवार परमजीत सिंह सरना कांग्रेस के फरमाबरदार हैं। इन चुनावों में सरना ने दिल्ली की सिख संगत को मूर्ख बनाने की पूरी कोशिश की। मगर सरना और कांग्रेस की पुरानी करतूतों ने उन्हें कहीं का नहीं छोड़ा। उन्हें शर्मनाक हार का सामना करना पड़ा है। 

दिल्ली के सिखों को भरोसा जताते हुए बादल ने कहा कि शिरोमणि अकाली दल अपने सभी वादों को अक्षरक्ष पूरा करेगा। डीएसजीएमसी इस बार पहले से भी अधिक जोश से सिखों की सेवा के लिए तैयार है। उन्होंने दिल्ली चुनावों में जीत दर्ज करने वाले सभी उम्मीदवारों की वीरवार को सुबह 11 बजे एक बैठक का आह्वान किया है।

ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਤੋੜ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ, ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤਕ ਕਿ ਪੰਥਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਲ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਤਾਰੇ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਝੂਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਨਘੜਤ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਏ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਫਤਵਾ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੋਹ ਭੰਗ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਧੁੰਦਲੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਦਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਨਾ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲਾ ਧੜਾ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਸੱਜੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਧੜੇ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਲੂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਵਾਹ ਲਾਈ ਸੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਰ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਸਰਨਾ ਧੜੇ ਦੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਨਾਕ ਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਪਿਆ।

ਸ਼ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ  ਸਿੱਖ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਦਿੱਲੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਜੋਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗੀ।

ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲੜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਕੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ 11 ਵਜੇ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਹੈ।

DSGMC results proof of complete rejection of both AAP and Cong by Sikh electorate -

Chandigarh, March 1 - Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the overwhelming victory of the SAD in elections to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) was proof of the complete rejection of both AAP and the Congress party amongst the Sikh community.

In a statement here, the SAD president said the elections also proved that the Sikh community of Delhi was with the SAD and appreciated the work done by the party in both the national capital as well as Punjab.

Mr Badal while congratulating the akali rank and file who he said had worked assiduously to ensure the SAD victory in Delhi, said the akali cadre deserved fulsome praise for steadfastly ignoring the negative propaganda unleashed by its opponents. Mr Badal also praised the stellar work done by DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK which he said was aptly rewarded by the Sikh community.

The SAD president said AAP had tried its best to prop up its own organisation and even formed the Panthic Sewa Dal which put up its own candidates in the elections. "They even levelled false allegations against the SAD. However the results are a fatwa on the working of AAP and shows that the Delhi electorate is completely disillusioned by AAP and its performance. The elections are a precursor to what will happen to AAP in the future", he added.

Speaking about the Congress, the SAD president said the faction headed by Paramjit Singh Sarna was openly aligned with the party and had tried its best to befool the Sikh electorate. "However the past track record of Sarna and his gang as well as the Congress party has caught up with them and they have also met with a humiliating defeat", he added.

Mr Badal assured the electorate that the SAD would fulfil all the promises made to them. "The DSGMC will work with even more vigour for the welfare of the community", he added.

The SAD president has called a meeting of all its party candidates who contested the DSGMC elections tomorrow morning at 11 am.
