Sikhs Protested outside Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal House

New Delhi / 17 August 2016
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC)  gheraoed the house of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and also burnt his effigy. A large number of SIkhs took part in the protest. DSGMC president Manjit Singh G.K. led the protest that began from Civil Lines Metro Station. Protestors called Kejriwal Government as anti Sikhs that take decisions looking things in a communal prism. The protesters were also carrying placard on which he was mentioned as anarchist and rightist bent of mind. Delhi police used water cannons to scatter the protesters.

Speaking on the occasion Manjit Singh G.K. said that Kejriwal was giving step motherly treatment to Sikhs. Not allowing installation of the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and not allotting seats for admissions in two minority institutions run by DSGMC is the reason that forced Sikhs to resort to protest.G.K. said Kejriwal refused permission for installing statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in Mehrauli park taking plea of an order of the Supreme Court, but on 13 August he unveiled statue first CM of Delhi Chaudhary Brahm Prakash in village Khera Dabur hospital, purely for political gains. “Delhi government run IP University has not permitted two institutions run by DSGMC for admissions but 34 other institutions under the university are admitting students in-spite of serious discrepancies,” G.K. also said.

G.K. added that Kejriwal’s policies and intentions are to rob Sikhs of their rights. He said Sikhs have accepted when Delhi government said Baba Banda Singh Bahadur statues could not be installed due to Supreme Court’s orders, but they had to raise voice and resort to protest when statues of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were installed in Delhi Vidhan Sabha.

G.K. announced that he would file a contempt petition against Kejriwal for violating Supreme Court orders and would also take the fight for denying rights to Sikhs to the parliament.
