A high level delegation led by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara
Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today met
External Affairs Ministry and demanded that Government of India should take up
issue of abduction of Bulbul Kaur daughter of Head Granthi of Gurudwara Panja
Sahib with Pakistan Government.
Mr. Sirsa informed the Ministry that fifteen days ago,
the daughter of Granthi of Gurudwara Sri Panja Sahib, Bulbaul Kaur was also
abducted by two Muslim men and there is no news of her as yet despite her
family‘s repetitive pleas to the police and authorities.
Her father Granthi S. Pritam Singh Ji has been seeking
help with folded hands from community and leaders to save her daughter from
butchery of conversion.
He said that with this abduction an impression is being
sought to be created that girls of Head Granthis of prominent Sikh Gurudwara
are inclined towards Muslim boys and this attempt will not be tolerated by the
Sikh Community.
The Delegation apprised the Ministry that in last
three months more than 55 girls of minority community have been abducted,
converted to Islam and then married to Muslim men and in this case it appears
that same modus operandi has been followed like in the case of Jagjit Kaur
daughter of Head Granthi of Nankana Sahib.
Delegation urged the Ministry that this matter should immediately
be taken up with the Pakistan Government
and permission should be given to a delegation of the DSGMC and SAD to visit Pakistan
and ascertain the true facts as they feared that it is list of only 55 girls
whereas in reality figure can be much more. They also want to know what status
of such girls is.
Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa also disclosed that JP Singh Joint
Secretary In -charge of Pakistan Desk in the Ministry informed them that they
had summoned Pakistan High Commissioner yesterday after they were informed of
the matter by him (Manjinder Singh Sirsa) and have told them to ensure return of girl in 24
hours. Now they will again seek report on the status of her return.
Mr. Sirsa announced that they will wait till
tomorrow evening for return of the girl and in case she fails to return to
a family ,then a dharna will start from September 21 in front of Pakistan High
Commission in Delhi and it will continue for until justice is delivered.
It is worth
mentioning here that last year, Jagjit Kaur, the daughter of head granthi of
Gurudwara Sri Nankana Sahib faced this torture. Her family is still fighting to
get her back but even the law protects the radicals and thus, conversion
factory runs at full pace in Pak.
They said that this is not a coincidence; this is a
well-hatched conspiracy to convert the daughters of influenced Sikh families
especially because Sikhs are the most courageous, humanitarian and open minded
community, ready to help everyone. This is an attempt to belittle the faith and
practice of Sikhism in Pakistan. Such humiliation faced by Sikh families deeply
anguishes every Sikh in India and worldwide.
Delegation urged the Government of India that steps must
be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of Sikh families in Pakistan and
it should voice the concerns of global Sikh Community.
