Palbinder K. Shergill Of B.C. Supreme Court Becomes 1st Turbaned Sikh Judge In Canada

By any standards, Palbinder Kaur Shergill is an accomplished woman: a trial lawyer with her own firm and a mother of three who speaks three languages (on her way to four).
Last week, Shergill was appointed to the B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster, becoming the first turbaned judge in Canada.
"It's ... especially inspiring given that she's a woman and mostly the turban is associated with Sikh men," Balpreet Singh of the World Sikh Organization told CBC News.

Man's Racist Snapchat Story Targets Sleeping Sikh On Plane Flight

Sleeping on a plane is hard enough. It’s worse when a fellow passenger mocks you on Snapchat the whole time and suggests you’re a terrorist.
That’s what a Sikh worshipper en route to Indianapolis had to endure last week. Screenshots of the posts are sparking outrage on Twitter.
The prejudiced posts were made by an unidentified man, but were captured for posterity by Dr. Simran Jeet Singh, an assistant professor in the religion department at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

British Sikh couple take legal action after being advised not to adopt

A British Sikh couple say they were told by an adoption agency not to apply as only white babies were in need.
Sandeep and Reena Mander say they were told they were unlikely to succeed as the only children in need were white
A British Sikh couple are bringing a legal case, claiming they were advised by an adoption agency not to apply because of their “cultural heritage”.
Sandeep and Reena Mander said they had wanted to adopt a child of any ethnic background.
But they were told that, as only white children were in need, white British or European applicants would be given preference, meaning they were unlikely to be selected.
Instead, the Berkshire-based couple allege, they were advised to try to adopt from India – a country with which they have no close links.
“Giving an adopted child – no matter what race – the security of a loving home was all we wanted to do,” Sandeep Mander said.
“What we didn’t expect was a refusal for us to even apply for adoption, not because of our incapability to adopt, but because our cultural heritage was defined as ‘Indian/Pakistani’,” he told the Times.

DSGMC file a case before NHRC against Capt. Amrinder Singh, in connection of the murder of 21 young Sikh who had surrendered themselves

In his biography Capt. Amrinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab had stated that 21 young Sikhs who had surrendered and a case of murder has been registered by the Police, after which the sensational case has been politicalised.

President DSGMC S. Manjit Singh G.K. and S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, General Secretary have stated that Capt. Amrinder Singh has hand in murdering the innocent 21 young Sikhs and in this matter they have announced in today's Press Conference that they will file a case in National Human Rights Commission against Capt. Amrinder Singh.  In fact, after his biography Capt. Amrinder Singh tweeted on his tweeter Account on 17th May, 2017 that the former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar have deceived him in the matter of surrender of 21 innocent young Sikhs.

G.K. stated that during the year 1980-90 the Sikh Community again and again complained about the practice of murdering young Sikhs by the Police Administration on the recommendation of Punjab Govt., on the basis of terrorism, Capt. Amrinder had proved right this. G.K. had stated that in Punjab during terrorism innocent Sikhs were killed in three ways.  In which the false cases against sikh youths were filed and they were killed in fake encounters by pulling them out from their houses to end the Sikhism.

G.K. also stated that no doubt Capt. Amrinder singh by submitting his confession he had got himself relieved but yet it is to be seen how he will be able to get the grieved families of Sikhs compensated.  While taking a reference to the submission of Mr. Amrinder's confession G.K. had appealed to the judiciary to  suite  a case against the culprits failing which DSGMC will be first to sue Capt. Amrinder Singh by themselves.

G.K. said what was the necessity to offer a bouquet to former DGP K.P.S. Gill by Capt. Amrinder Singh after taking oath as Chief Minister-Punjab.  G.K. said that there were also allegations against KPS Gill of killing Sikhs by fake encounters.  By offering bouquet to KPS Gill what Capt. Amrinder Singh wants to tell the people? Meeting KPS Gill and to shower crocodile tears for innocent killings of Sikhs, is it logical? G.K. also said that they will approach Prime Minister regarding filing a case against Capt. Amrinder Singh as well as will approach the Central Government to have CBI investigation for Police encounters took place in 1990.

Sirsa Said that Capt. Amrinder's silence for 25 years is not sufficient to prove him not guilty, because he himself was Chief Minister from 2002-2007.  At the same time as a MP/MLA his silence through all the Parliament sessions/meetings has created suspense.  Since Capt. Amrinder Singh himself has condemned the massacre of Sikhs in Punjab, it is his moral duty to lodge the FIR against the culprits.   As Capt. Amrinder Singh is the Chief Minister he will be able to apprehend the culprits by his own Police team easily. Sirsa had also demanded that Capt. Amrinder Singh be made a witness in filing the case against the Police Officials in Punjab for the killing of innocent 21 Sikh youths by making public their names and the year of incidents.

Nihang teaches yoga and life management skills

AMRITSAR: The sight of a man in a Nihang's robes may be unexpected at the beaches of Maldives. But Dr Kamalroop Singh, a Ph.D in Sikh studies from the UK, adds to the idyll of this retreat by teaching yoga, pranayam and de-stressing techniques to tourists who swarm the place. Not only do tourists get their dose of relaxation, they are also familiarised with the teachings of the Sikh gurus. All this is done with a scientific angle that make his arguments all the more persuasive.

"I wanted to do sewa, so, after researching Western academic material on stress, I created a system to tackle modern day stress based on scientific findings and yoga," said. According to him, his work is based on the work of Dr Benson, who coined the famous 'relaxation response' to the fight or flight instinct that produces stress. Singh swears by the efficacy of his techniques, which include guided relax ation, stretches, deep breathing, meditation, maintaining balance and composure. Singh said the crux of his teaching is the art of going with the flow.Guru Nanak Dev, he said, exhorted humanity to remain within "hukum."

"If we look at this from a religious viewpoint, it means following the divine will or going with the flow. When we go against the current of life, we get stressed. We must be in the moment and move with the current. That is what I teach my students through yoga, pranayam and mantras," he explained.

POLITICAL FAR-SIGHTED VENTURE - HOUSE OF CARDS : SEASON 5, EPISODE 1

Frank Underwood is coming to India with the television premiere of House Of Cards Season 5 on Saturday, 3rd June, 5 PM onwards, only on Zee Café!

As the nomenclature suggests, House of Cards is a concrete homecoming of political terror which is further unravelled in the season 5 Episode 1 of the series. The hypocrisy of the protagonist is highlighted with his non conformist attitude. You must view the upcoming series of the  “Home Coming of Terror”, on Z Café. Must watch to view an epitome of political drama which comprehends political philosophy, with the sole aim of gaining power & strength. The series does not actually depict Donald Trump, but the desires & aspirations of the Actor in the series, exactly matches with him.

In this political series, a journalist is killed, while Frank and Claire Underwood, try their best to convert the attack to their advantage. It begins with a direct telecast, where Claire is saying, “You have nothing to be Afraid of. We are here to protect you”.  She continues, “There’s a lot of noise out there, a noisy press that’s choosing to dwell on the past instead of what’s happening right now,” But as soon as the camera zooms, it reveals that it was the recording of an election telecast.

The scene moves to the American Congress, where a senate wants a debate on the actions of the President and his declaration of war on terror. But the reply he gets from the Frank was, " I don't care. I don't care of your investigative committees". He continues, “ I am on my way to the funeral of an American patriot. A good man. A husband. A father who was beheaded on American soil. And this chamber chooses to debate me".

The flamboyancy of Frank seems captivating the genre of the thoughts of the general public who is being outwitted very deceptively. It exhibits the President of the United States of America, with no regard to the political values. Frank tries to overcome the growing popularity of his Republican rival Will Conway, and manipulates the situation, by waging a war against the terrorist organization ICO / ISIS, with the sole aim of creating fear in the general public so that he could retain his presidency in the coming elections.

His working style is starkly opportunistic,  corresponding with that of Donald Trump, the President of United States of America. He absolutely capitalizes the issue of the insecurity of the people in the hands of the terrorists, manipulating the entire mindset of the masses, just to regain his popularity as well to retain his seat. The show is all set to engross the viewers by its spectacular gripping plots.
