8 Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are also being brought to India.
DSGMC in association with World Punjabi Organization succeeded in
bringing 182 Afghan Hindu-Sikh migrants to India from Afghanistan in a
chartered flight today 3rd September at IGI Airport, New Delhi.
They were welcomed and felicitated by Manjinder Singh Sirsa,
President of DSGMC, S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa and by Vikramjit Singh Sahni ,Chairman of WPO.
After 28 people were killed in an attack on Gurudwara in Afghanistan, a very small number of Sikh and Hindu families who remained in Afganistan continue to come to India and today 182 Afghan Hindu-Sikh migrants arrived in India with Guru Granth Sahib.
Mr.Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that so far about 450 families have come to India.Until there is a permanent arrangement for families; they will stay at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Guest House.Their food and drink will be arranged by DSGMC.8 forms (saroops)of Shri Guru Granth Sahib have come along with the group which were brought to Gurudwara with full respect .Till these families find a permanent home, the entire cost of their living and education of their children will be borne by the Delhi Gurdwara Committee,Paramjit Singh Bedi and Daljit Singh Sethi.Mr.Manjinder Singh Sirsa expressed special gratitude to the Government of India, especially Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, for bringing them safe and for providing them long-term visas .All these families were living in the shadow of terror and fear and it was necessary to bring them to India.Government of India has assured that these families will be given permanent citizenship.Matter of bringing them to India was taken up by the Delhi Gurdwara Committee, especially by President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa. He raised this matter before Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hoem Minister Shri Amit Shah.
