DSGMC : Dil Se Sewa
Citizens
from all across the country have been selflessly feeding the hungry, helping to
tide over the crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For some, sewa in such times
is a shining example of community spirit.

A
unique initiative, ‘Dil Se Sewa: Feeding Millions’, along with NDTV and in
partnership with the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, is being
presented by philanthropist, film presenter and chairman of the Wave Group,
Raju Chadha. Under the initiative, celebrities and achievers from various
fields will motivate other citizens to join the campaign and help it to reach
out to the poor and vulnerable, who need to be provided food.
“The
langar concept was an innovative charity and symbol of equality introduced by
the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Devji. Hence, the roots of such community
kitchens and feeding the hungry and needy is very old in our Sikh traditions.
Serving humanity in a selfless manner is the hallmark of the langar sewa,
something that each one of us should imbibe. Especially in these trying times
when such a large part of the population worldwide is facing the heat of the
Covid-19 pandemic,” says Chadha, who has pioneered several community
initiatives and has been applauded for ushering in reforms in Sikh weddings by
making them simple and lowcost in the past.
He
further adds, “I appeal to everyone to come out and make a difference with your
help and donations. Your greatness does not lie in what you have, it’s in what
you give.”
A
special show on the fundraising initiative, the significance of langar sewa and
how it serves humanity, will be telecast today on NDTV at 7pm.
I
appeal to everyone to come out and make a difference with your help and
donations. Your greatness does not lie in what you have, it’s in what you give.
