Efforts have been
started by Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal to bring home the Punjabis
trapped in Cyprus and their return is possible by July 15.
A large number of Punjabi will return home on
July 15 from the first flight. It is noteworthy that the case of 120 Punjabi
youths trapped in Cyprus was raised by Parbans Singh Bunty Rumana, National
President of Yuva Akali Dal. The matter was brought to the notice of Mrs.Badal.
The family members of these youth were introduced to Mrs Badal;who made them
aware of the plight of their children.
Given the seriousness
of the matter,Mrs.Badal requested Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jai Shankar to bring
Punjabi youth from Cyprus;who has now directed the Indian High Commission in
Cyprus to make appropriate arrangements for the repatriation of the Punjabi
youth to Cyprus at the earliest and to arrange special flights for the purpose
so that in view of the difficult conditions of all Punjabis stranded in Cyprus
they could be brought to India as soon as possible.
Punjabi
youths who went to Cyprus in the hope of a better and brighter future will soon
return among their own due to special efforts made by the Union Minister.
