Punjab Cong MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla Asks CM Transfer Back Probe of Issuing Fake Reports of Covid-19 reports to Vigilance

Congress MP from Amritsar Gurjeet Singh Aujla

AMRITSAR:  Congress Member Parliament from Amritsar, Mr. Gurjeet Singh Aujla asked the chief minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh to personally intervene into this matter and transfer this probe back to vigilance bureau or order a judicial probe  for issuing fake reports of Covid-19 reports by private lab in Amritsar

In a letter to CM, Aujla said, “I am writing to you to bring into your attention the stand-off which happened between the families of the patients and the medical staff of EMC Hospital, Amritsar on 8 July 2020. As you are well aware of that Vigilance Bureau in Amritsar had registered an FIR on 23 June 2020 against the owners of Tuli Diagnostic Centre, Amritsar under attempt to murder charges for endangering the lives of the people by issuing fake reports of Covid-19. Besides this, bureau had also booked the owner of EMC Hospital and its doctors for allegedly colluding with the lab and committing fraud”.

Adding further he said, “The vigilance bureau in its preliminary investigation also found the connivance of some health department officials and doctors. The residents of the state greatly appreciated the stern stance government took into this matter. Now as the vigilance bureau was about to bring conclusive results in this case, the probe into this matter got shifted to local police, which seems to have happened for the first time in the history of Punjab Police”, he quipped.

“The mere news of transfer of probe became the reason of the above stated stand-off which can become tenser in the coming days if Punjab government does not reverse its decision. The residents of the city have been patiently cooperating with government in its efforts to contain Covid19 and are expecting government to act swiftly into such matters. I therefore request your good self to personally intervene into this matter and transfer this probe back to vigilance bureau or order a judicial probe under the supervision of a sitting judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court that could get to the bottom of this matter”, said he while concluding the letter.

Earlier Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia questioning   chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had asked why no action had been taken against private laboratory in the fake COVID - 19 report case. He said despite a Vigilance case being registered no arrest had been made in the case. “It needs to be probed who gave the contract for COVID testing to Tuli lab and who is protecting the lab management now”.
