In a letter to Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Jaswinder Singh Jolly, Chairman of the Committee's Minority Cell, said that although Central Government's schemes for minorities are very useful, there is a lack of publicity about them.
He suggested that an Awareness Campaign should be launched about these schemes under which daily or
weekly desks should be set up in religious places of minorities and educational
institutions like schools and colleges etc. to inform the beneficiaries /
parents about the existing schemes and how to avail them.
Mr.Jaswinder Singh Jolly also
suggested that parents and students should be made aware of this by
coordinating with schools and colleges and liaising with the governing bodies
of minority institutions to ensure that the schemes are well implemented.
E-mails, messages should be sent to the parents and large size boards should be put up on the
streets near schools and colleges.
He said that
these schemes are of special importance for the educational and social
upliftment of minorities in the country but its benefits will be available only
when people will be aware about all these schemes and the way to avail them for which they are
made. He hoped that an awareness campaign would be launched following the
suggestions given by the Minister in this regard.
