Ambala, Jun 29 (PTI) A national level museum of Sikh heritage will be setup in Lakhnaur Sahib village close to Ambala City.
While addressing a congregation at Gurudwara Lakhnaur Sahib here today, MP from Ambala Ratan Lal Kataria said Lakhnaur Sahib is a historical village as the mother of tenth Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh belonged to the place.
Guru Gobind Singh had also spent a few years of his childhood in the village, he added.
He said 17 acres of land belonging to Maharaja Ranjit Singh had been lying vacant here which would now be utilized for the museum.
The MP said some articles belonging to Guru Gobind Singh and his mother Mata Gujree would also be kept in the museum and it would be developed on the lines of Anandpur Sahib Museum.
Local MLA Aseem Goel said the Lakhnaur Sahib Gurudwara is a historical place and added that he and Kataria would meet the chief minister to ask him to develop it as a national tourism centre.
Kataria announced Rs 11 lakh for the gurudwara from MPLAD funds.
