Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday met Pakistani hindu refugees under the leadership of DSGMC)President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday today met Pakistani hindu refugees here in New Delhi and assured them that long term visas will be provided to all of them to enable them to settle in this country and added that the cases of grant of citizenship will be expediated as per provision of the law .

           Home Minister Amit Shah

The assurance was made by Home Minister Amit Shah to a delegation of Pak Hindus who met him under the leadership of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa who pleaded for grant citizenship to families who have come to India on tourist/pilgrims/visitor visa and want to settle down in India.
Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa who led the Pak Hindus Delegation who were  forced to leave Pakistan after the  religious persecution  thanked home  Minister for taking various measures and initiatives like Citizen Amendement Act  for granting them citizenship .

Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa told Union Home Minister that around 750   -hindus are living in bank of yamuna off a busy road in  makeshift tents and unplastered walls with metal roofs in north Delhi's Majnu ka Tila area  who fled the neighbouring country to seek refuge here while many others live in resettlement colonies on the outskirts of New Delhi  in Rohini Sector 9 and 11, Adarsh Nagar and near the Signature Bridge.

The Pakistani Hindus came on visitor/tourist/pilgrims  visa, but some of them  felt unsafe in Pakistan and hoped to get Indian citizenship.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, President DSGMC  Union home minister Amit Shah had assured  the delegation that all Hindu refugees will be accepted as country’s citizen and the head of the family would get a certificate that will be valid for the rest of the family as well said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President DSGMC Who led Pak Hindu refugees delegation.

The DSGMC chief said he  discussed with Union Home Minister Amit  Shah in detail about the insecurity they faced in Pakistan and it was after his assurance that they were made to leave their country.

Some of them are well-educated but felt unsafe in Pakistan.  Like the other minority communities, they too were concerned about the security and dignity of their family members, especially young daughters. There was a threat that they too will be abducted, forced to convert their religion and marry a Muslim against their wish. The purpose of getting them to meet the Home Minister was to bring back their lost confidence and work on the modalities so that they could be considered to get Indian citizenship under the new Act,” Sirsa added.
He said that Pakistani Hindus/and all other minorities   are   are not feeling safe in Pakistan. Young  girls of minority community  feel insecure as they fear that they could be kidnapped any time by hardliners while police watch as spectators. Young minority community  girls cannot walk freely in majority of the  area of Pakistan Sirsa Added  Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa added   that kidnapping of Hindu/Sikh  girls has  become a routine affair in Pakistan and no family dared to lodge a complaint with police against fundamentalists.

He said that law of blasphemy and other laws are misused in Pakistan to arrest members of Hindu and Sikhs families, they are humiliated by police, are helpless in facing abuses of police and goonda elements from majority community and are forced to abandon their properties which are then usurped  by abductors. He said that it is pitiable condition of these families in Pakistan whose voice is never heard by authorities because they are minority community in that country.

Guruchanan Kaur :Musician Falls In Love With Religion of Music

Guruchanan Kaur talks about how her music background made her fall in love with Sikhi.
Jasvir Kaur Rababan is the host of 'Kaur Voices', a regular live talk show series. In this first episode Jasvir has a jubilant conversation with Guruchanan Kaur who fell in love with Sikhi through her musical background (both Jasvir and Guruchanan are co-founders of kaurvoices.org, a platform for empowering Sikh women). Guruchanan was amazed when she found that there is a religion based off music, that our Gurus themselves invented musical instruments, and that our teachings are organized in raags, showing how central music is in Sikhi.

The open conversation went on to address cultural and religious issues surrounding sexuality and the how the equality of genders taught by our Gurus is practiced today. Guruchanan Kaur, with her light heartedness, sheds light on Sikh history and the ethic of sacrificing and fighting to uphold the honor of women.

20 of Sikh family die in train-van crash in Pak

Amritsar/ Islamabad: Twenty members of a Sikh family from Pakistan were killed and seven injured when a high-speed train hit their van at an unmanned railway crossing in Farooqabad, in Pakistan Punjab’s Sheikhupura district, on Friday.

Six women and many children were among those killed in the accident which occurred about 78 km from Lahore.
The Lahore-bound train, travelling from Karachi, crashed into the vehicle between Farooqabad and Bahalekay, Pakistan Railways said in a statement.

Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) president Satwant Singh told TOI over the phone from Lahore that the group of Sikhs had gone from Peshawar to Nankana Sahib to attend the “antim ardas” of a relative, Raghubir Singh, who had recently died due to the novel coronavirus. The “antim ardas” could not be held earlier due to the lockdown.

“They were going back to Peshawar in a van via Farooqabad where they were to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, but unfortunately their van collided with the speeding Shah Hussain Express, which was on its way to Lahore from Karachi, at a railway crossing near Sheikhupura,” he added.

He said 20 members of the family were killed on the spot and seven others were hospitalised.

Amreek Singh, a senior member of the Sikh community, told TOI that the group of Sikhs living in Mohallah Jogan Shah, a Sikh locality inside Peshawar’s walled city. All the injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Sheikhupura and the dead were taken to Mayo Hospital in Lahore. Singh described the condition of one of the injured girls as critical.

Pakistan railway minister Sheikh Rashid directed authorities to take immediate action against those responsible for the accident and the divisional engineer was suspended by the railways management.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted: “My condolences and prayers go to the families of the deceased. Have directed relevant authorities to ensure facilitation and care for all the families. Our entire railway’s operational safety SOPs will be reviewed immediately.”

Pakistan Punjab province’s parliamentary secretary Mohinderpal Singh said the government was making arrangements to send the bodies to Peshawar. He said preliminary investigations had revealed that the driver of the van had tried to cross the railway crossing by traversing an unpaved stretch to save time, resulting in the accident.

Expressing grief over the deaths, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal demanded exemplary punishment for the persons responsible for letting the railway crossing remain unattended.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he was pained by the tragic demise of Sikh pilgrims in a road accident in Pakistan.
