Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to fight Ban Sikh Jokes case in Supreme Court



Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Sh Manjit Singh G.K  today said Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will  fight case on Ban Sikh Jokes in supreme court and will hire battery of top lawyers of the country to seek complete ban on Sikh Jokes in the country .He told  that supreme court  bench headed  by Chief Justice of India Justice T.S.Thakur has today  decided that petition of supreme court advocate Ms Harvinder Chaudhry on this topic  will be heared with the petition filed by  Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee during next date of hearing   while hearing her case today.

Committee President Sh Manjit Singh G.K  said that Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has sought services of  legal luminaries like Sh Ram Jethmalani, Sr Advocate Justice (Retd) R.S.Sodhi and Sh R.S.Suri  Sr Advocate  for fighting the case in supreme court for effective presentation of the case before apex court. He demanded the enactment of the law on the pattern of the Anti Bullying Law  being practiced in various European countries to stop jokes on racial and religious lines . He told that committee will fight for complete ban on jokes being practiced on all religions and regions like gujrati jokes , bihari jokes and jokes on north eastern regional communities and told that  committee has already approached various communities who are facing racial slurs due to such jokes in india to make a grand alliance  for fighting case in supreme court and present wider prespective of the case before apex court
President Sh Manjit Singh G.K  said that the committee will soon meet union minister of state for home affairs Sh  Rijiju t o seek his  support  for complete ban on such jokes in the country and said that  committee will request the union govt  for enactment of  law on the pattern of central  SC/ST act to make such jokes as offence under the law . He said that certain  commercial organizations are making  huge profit in crores by running  websites on  sikh jokes  etc  and defaming  the community and demanded complete ban on such jokes immediately .
He said that campaign on ban sikh jokes has received massive support from all section of society cutting across party , religious and regional lines and so far 60,000 persons has signed the petition to support the movement in the country and abroad.
