A Black Country Gurdwara has teamed up with West
Midlands Police to make specialist masks for employees with religious beards
and facial hair. Gurdwara has

who supplied us with the visors previously, and we started work to alter the
facemasks to create something that fully covers a beard."
The masks were
created by Mr. Eccleston, with support from the Heart of England Community
Foundation, who provided funding. The Gurdwara is now preparing to donate 200
masks to the National Police Sikh Association at a ceremony in Birmingham on
Monday.
The masks will then be distributed to
officers across the country, including forces in Greater Manchester,
Leicestershire, Kent and West Midlands.

able to provide protection to officers across the country and it demonstrates
the community spirit of the Gurdwara as well.
"It's very rewarding to do something
like this, something that fits the spirit of Sikhism and we know that people
appreciate what we do, so it's great to be able to do this."

In July's first week, the same campaign was started in Gurdwara Guru Ka Taal in Tajanagari, Agra. The numbers of Sikh families that have joined this campaign range in the hundreds and centers have also been set up to collect old turbans.
The
process is simple. Old
turbans are collected by Sikh families. They are then sanitised and converted
into masks. After it is made into a mask, it is sanitised once more and then
delivered to the not so fortunate who require a Mask .
The goal is to produce 1 million Masks. In the first phase the target is to get to 2.5
lakh masks. The campaign is expected to pick up in pace as the days progress.
