Gurpreet Pinky Singh, president of Australian Punjabi Welfare Association (APWA) has been proactively working for welfare and safety of the Punjabi community in Australia.She has always respected the value of hard work, and the importance of reward for effort.
After moving to Australia at 18 and speaking little English, Pinky started her working life as a waitress. Together with her husband Ben, they have worked hard to build up successful small businesses and created jobs for locals.A familiar face across many community and multicultural circles, Pinky has spent most of her life working with and helping community groups across Brisbane and is proud to call Newstead home.Pinky Singh played a
critical role assisting the family of the late Manmeet Alisher (the BCC bus
driver who was murdered) following his tragic death in 2016 and acted as a
spokesperson for the family in communicating with various government
departments and media.
