Annual Gurmat Quiz Competition by Sri Guru Singh Sabha,Rohini


Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sector 7, Rohini organized the Annual Gurmat Quiz Competition on 8th September 2015. School students from GNPS Pushpanjali and GHPS Nanak Piao and Punjabi Bagh branches participated in a well knit quiz program by Veer Harjinder Singh (Kaun Banega Gursikh Pyara fame). Amazing information was shared and students and audience participated with lot of enthusiasm.GHPS Punjabi Bagh students won the first prize, GNPS baged the second and GHPS Nanak Piao took third.

Gurdwara secretary S Anoop Singh congratulated the kids and gave them words of wisdom and advise.Quiz was focused on Gurmat and Sikh personalities.

Gurdwara sahib management made very good arrangements for students. Judges and dignitaries were honored along with the quiz conductors. Along with the management present were IT Head DSGMC and Shiromani Akali Dal Vikram Singh, President Confederation of Singh Sabhas Rohini S. JP Singh, Tirlochan Singh, Satnam Singh, Sukhdeep Singh among others.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Announces party observers


Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) national president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that party will contest on 35 seats on its own in the ensuing Uttar Pradesh seventh assembly elections in April 2017 and have nominated party observers to mobilise the electorates.

Announcing party observers for the states SAD chief said that Delhi unit Party Chief Manjit Singh GK and senior Delhi leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa would be the incharge for West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Chattisgarh states.

Sikh man who was attacked in Darien returns home from hospital

A Darien man who was attacked Tuesday in what police are investigating as a possible hate crime has returned home from the hospital, his father said Thursday.
Police say they suspect a 17-year-old in the case of a Sikh man, Inderjit Singh Mukker, 53, a Darien resident and U.S. citizen, who was beaten and called a terrorist in Darien.
The incident took place about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, when men in two vehicles became involved in “some type of traffic altercation,” Darien Police Chief Ernest Brown said. One driver pulled his car in front of the other man, who had stopped, and then got out and hit the other driver in the face, Brown said.
Officials with the Sikh Coalition, a Sikh advocacy group, said Mukker was driving to a grocery store on South Cass Avenue when another driver began yelling at him to “go back to your country,” and called him a “terrorist” and “Bin Laden.”
According to the coalition, Mukker pulled over near 69th and Cass to let the other vehicle pass, but the driver pulled in front of him and approached his car. The coalition said he then reached in and repeatedly punched Mukker in the face. The coalition said Mukker lost consciousness, was bleeding and had a broken cheekbone. He was taken to the hospital, where he got six stitches, the coalition reported.

Students organisation of India (S.O.I) : Stunning Poll Victory in Two Colleges of Delhi University in DUSU Elections 2015
















Shromani Akali Dal's student wing,Students organisation of India (S.O.I) has done amazingly  well in the local Colleges of Delhi University DUSU Election held on 11th  September 2015

SOI contested for the first time in three Khalsa colleges of Delhi  University ;Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce and  Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College has surprised Election Analytics.It swept  to a stunning Election Victory in Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce and Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College.

SOI won the full panel in Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce : YP Singh President, Ashish K. Chadha, vice president, Ujjwal Arora, General Secretary, Gurdev Singh, Joint Secretary, Harman Kaur CC, and Gurasanjh Singh CC .

Similarly, in  Guru Teg Bahadur  Khalsa College :  President Nitesh Rohilla, General Secretary Rajni Arora, Joint Secretary Himanshu Sharma won with huge majority.  In Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College Anil Kumar won the post of General Secretary.

The President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh GK referring to the fall in growth rate of Sikh population in India by 0.2% called upon the Sikhs living in India and world over to watch their count and be careful as Sikhs are already in a microscopic minority and fall in the growth rate could be of serious consequences in the days to come for future generations.

He adds“Sikhs are a martial community and they don’t need any introduction as they are famous worldwide for their achievements in all the fields, be it – sports, army, industry, entrepreneur, business, information technology and they constitute a strong skilled work force world over, which is despite a very less number,” .

He further adds, “I am sure Sikhs would continue to do well in all the fields but when the head count matters in today’s world we must not come down from what we are now,”. He called upon the Sikhs families to identify their potential and properly manage the means of upbringing their children.  

He also called upon the Sikhs to give good education to their children so as to make them good citizens who contribute to the development of the society and country they live in.
