MR Sreenivasulu :Software Engineer Has Recreated Amritsar Golden Temple Using Pen Refills

Sreenivasulu with the Golden Temple pen-refill replica using 1500+ pen refills.

MR Sreenivasulu, a miniature artist from Bengaluru, has done to commemorate his 13th year as a miniature artist in 2020. Sreenivasulu needed two years and four months to complete his labour of love. It is part of his attempts to create awareness about plastics and their hazardous effect on the world.

There are other world-renowned monuments he has brought to life using pen refills too.

He began by creating a miniature model of the 'Eiffel Tower' using 200-used pen refills in 2007. Ten years later, he brought the Charminar, Big Ben, Taj Mahal, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Gateway of India, Seattle Space Needle, Sydney Harbor Bridge and St Philomena Church, Mysuru, to life using 2500+ pen refills.

Sreenivasulu's wish is to re-create all the famous landmarks across the world and to use them as education material for architecture students.

A native of Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh, he began making miniature house models using marriage invitation cards at a tender age.

It was his hobby of collecting used pen refills from friends that would lead him to recreating the Golden Temple and the other famous monuments.

As part of 'Say No to Plastic' programme, which he organises for awareness on global warming in schools and colleges, he set up pen refill collection boxes. The refills collected in this manner too went into the making of other miniature structures.

He has exhibited his artworks in various prominent events and been featured in various record books too.

Sreenivasulu will take part in an upcoming international event the Rosanna Orlandi(RO) Plastic Prize. He is among the finalists across the world for this award. This award is part of Milan Design Week in Milan, Italy in September-October. He will be exhibiting miniature artworks in Milan and RO Plastic Prize function will be happening at the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum, Milan,Italy.

1991 Balwant Singh Multani Torture And Disappearance Case : Fresh Trouble For DGP Sumedh Saini As Former Cops To Testify In Hope Of Pardon

Latest updates reveal that the Court has accepted the request of two former police inspectors to turn approver in the enforced disappearance case of Sikh youth Balwant Singh Multani. Notably, the duo cops had secured anticipatory bails in May this year along with two other cops namely Har Sahai Sharma and Anoop Sing

In 1991, the Chandigarh police had abducted Balwant Singh Multani from his residence immediately after an attack on Sumedh Saini in Chandigarh. Four cops deployed in the security of Saini were killed in this attack while he survived the attack.

                                    DGP Sumedh Saini

After abducting Balwant Singh Multani, the cops had committed inhuman torture on him at the behest of Sumedh Saini. “During the night of December 13, 1991, the cops of Sector-17 police station produced Balwant Singh Multani before Sumedh Saini. He was tortured so cruelly that he was left unable to stand. When he fell down, Sumedh Saini kicked him so cruelly that his eye came out. Next morning, he was lying unconscious in a pool of blood. Saini came and ordered the cops to put him inside a vehicle and they took him along with them,” an eyewitness Gursharan Kaur Mann had revealed in May this year.

                       An eyewitness Gursharan Kaur Mann

In 2007, the Punjab & Haryana High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into this case. The CBI had found enough evidence against Sumedh Saini after which an FIR was registered against him, along with three other cops namely SP (Operations) Baldev Singh Saini, SI Harsahai Sharma and Jagir Singh on July 4, 2008. Later, this FIR was quashed by the Supreme Court of India after Saini challenged CBI inquiry and the High Court’s decision.

On May 6, the Mohali police had registered a fresh FIR on the complaint of victim Balwant Singh Multani’s brother Palwinder Singh Multani against Sumedh Saini, SP (Operations) Baldev Singh Saini, SI Harsahai Sharma, SI Jagir Singh, SI Savir Singh, SI Anoop Singh, Kuldeep Singh and other unknown police cops.

Resolution in Congress Seeks to Resettle Afghan Hindus, Sikhs in USA

WASHINGTON: Describing Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan as “endangered minorities”, a resolution introduced in US Congress has sought to resettle these persecuted religious communities from the war-torn country to America.

Introduced in the House of Representatives last week by Congresswoman Jackie Speier and co-sponsored by seven others, the resolution supports refugee protection for Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan, noting the “systematic religious persecution, discrimination and existential danger” faced by the members of these communities.

“Sikhs and Hindus are indigenous but endangered minorities in Afghanistan, numbering approximately 700 out of a community that recently included over 8,000 members,” the resolution stated.

It supports resettling Sikhs and Hindus from Afghanistan in US under the US Refugee Admissions Programme pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Noting that Islamic militants attacked a Gurdwara in Kabul on March 25, killing 25 worshipers, the resolution said terrorists made further attempts on the lives of the survivors before and after the funeral for the victims. “These acts follow a greater pattern of targeted violence against Sikhs, Hindus, and other minorities in Afghanistan in recent years,” it said.

Anti-Sikh Riots Case: Court Directs Delhi Police To Continue Providing Security To Witness Abhishek Verma

A court directed Delhi Police on Tuesday to continue providing security for a month to controversial arms dealer Abhishek Verma, a witness in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case against former Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjyot Singh Bhalla directed the DCP (South) Delhi Police to reassess the threat perception to Abhishek Verma as well as senior advocate H S Phoolka, who is representing the complainant in the case ;keeping in view the orders passed by the high court and the trial court.

                     Senior Advocate H S Phoolka

The CMM directed that the court's earlier order, in which it was recorded that the judge had received a letter containing threats to Verma and Phoolka, be sent to DCP. The CMM noted that the Delhi High Court had also sent the copy of the letter to letter to the police commissioner earlier and had asked to look into it and enhance the security granted to Verma.

The court also said that Abhishek Verma may approach the high court in the matter. In his application, Verma told the court that the security cover provided to him has suddenly been withdrawn by Delhi Police without any prior notice or intimation and also without re-evaluating the threat perception to him and his family members.

The conduct of the CBI and the police has left Verma and his family members totally exposed and vulnerable and at the mercy of the anti-social elements, who are looking for an opportunity to eliminate the applicant and his family members, the applicant said

It said that Verma is constantly receiving death threats vide calls and e-mails to pressurise him not to depose against Tytler before the court and subsequently not to proceed with Polygraph Test as directed by the court.

It further claimed that several witnesses in the case are already tampered with and many others have not been forthcoming to depose against influential persons.
