Punjab Institute of Language, Arts and Culture Lahore, Punjab :Celebrated the 41st anniversary of the Great Folk Singer Alam Lohar :Online International Event

On the initiative of Sughra  Sadaf, Director General, Punjab Government's Institute of Language Arts and Culture (PLAC), an online international function was organized to pay homage to the great folk singer Mohammad Alam Lohar on his 41st birth anniversary. It was attended by eminent writers and literary figures.

At the commencement of the function,Dr. Sughra Sadaf said that Alam Lohar was a shining star of folk music whose brilliance has not diminished even after four decades and his son Arif Lohar Has contributed to the culture of Punjab by continuing his father's mission.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, eminent poet of Indian Punjab and Chairman, Lok Virasat Academy, said that Mohammad Alam Lohar was the singer of the language of our Punjab; 'The Land of Five rivers.He congratulated Sugra Sadaf for organizing such a beautiful international event and said that books of songs written by Alam Lohar and Shaukat Ali Sahib among the folk artists should be published.


Famous Sufi singer Abida Praveen praised the life of Alam Lohar  and said that an artist like him could not be reborn in the world.


Pammi Bai, a folk singer from Indian Punjab, said that the art of Alam Lohar was appreciated by Punjabis all over the world. He still loves to sing his famous song "Mitti Di Bawa".

Punjabi film actor Harbhajan Mann said today we can follow his footsteps and spread the culture of Punjab all over the world.

Harbhajan Mann also sang one of his songs. He proposed to publish  a book of all the folk songs and folk tales sung by him.

Famous Pakistani singer Suraiya Multanikar said that he was a man possessed of politeness and compassion and all these qualities are also found in his son Arif Lohar. She praised Alam Lohar and said that his songs today Also famous for its unique style.His love for the land of Punjab can be seen through his songs.

Dr. Sughra Sadaf, Director General, PLAC, thanked all and said that PLAC would continue to hold similar international events and an International Folk Music Festival in the memory of Alam Lohar.
